Porsche DesignThe Porsche Boxster Is Definitely Just Not A Family Vehicle
A car that was introduced to the world in 1996, that is one of the best-handling production roadsters you can find anywhere, is the Porsche Boxster. It has been pretty much unchanged since the beginning, with only adjustments to the interior-options, and some moderate horsepower changes, but the Boxster is still a fast, powerful car. Showcasing popular models, Porsche usually maintains the same physical appearance for an extended period of time.
In 2005, there was the introduction of a second-generation Boxster that was more powerful, but stayed with Porsche's usual conservative evolutionary path. It looks like a Porsche Spyder, yet just like its predecessor, this is a two-seater, with a mid-engine and six cylinders. The framework and electronics of the new Boxster continue to be over 50% borrowed from the 911 Carrera. As a result of the modification of the torque and extra horsepower, the 2005 has more power than the 2004 equivalent. The 2005 Boxster S was almost an identical match to the top of the line Porsche 911 Carrera with its ability to accelerate and easily drive at top speeds.
Not one other car can match the peculiar sound resembling a trombone that is emanated with the Boxster's exhaust. Because the engine resembles the six-cylinder of the Carrera, only on a smaller scale, this is somewhat surprising. A five-speed manual transmission is exactly what the Boxster comes with typically, but if you want a six-speed, it is optional. It can also be outfitted with the Porsche-designed automatic transmission, the five-speed Tiptronic, that is definitely superb. This is the result of an upcoming trend in which the driver can manually shift an automatic vehicle. The Boxster is not really considered to be an extravagant car but it definitely has only the best in interior and exterior features.
The previous car was criticized for its cheap look, but the interior is upgraded some since then. The center console has been given an updated appearance with simulated titanium paneling and a modified gearshift. The new Boxster has enhanced seating with increased quality body shape and support. Transporting stuff around will not cause you any headaches because the Boxster has a small trunk in the back and a bigger one in the front under the hood. A fun quality of the Boxster, and also one of the best, may be the powered convertible top, that opens and shuts quickly, up to 30 mph. The roof will often withstand any type of weather and is made of noiseless cloth tops, while the back window boasts heated glass.
Termed as a mid-engine car, the Boxster's six-cylinder engine will be found to the backside of the seats before getting to the rear axle. No engine will be under the hood so don't bother trying to find it in that location. To look at the engine, you are going to have to lift the car so you can get under it.
